Senior Scientist – Gene Synthesis Program Manager
Biosearch Technologies, Inc. helped launch the market for synthetic oligonucleotides, and continues to advance nucleic acid technologies – now in the area of commercial manufacture of synthetic genes. To join our team of scientists we are seeking a program manager for this exciting new field on the vanguard of biotechnology—an individual with an accomplished academic or industrial record in the fields of molecular biology, synthetic biology or biochemistry. Efficient and meticulous development is needed to advance gene synthesis as an automated, high-throughput, production process; preferred candidate has previous experience in a similar environment.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Develop, evaluate, and track new methods for synthesis, cloning, and sequencing;
• Integrate such methods into an automated ordering and manufacturing infrastructure;
• Initiate and maintain professional dialog with customers, collaborators, and beta testers;
• Fulfill customer purchases while further advancing the methods;
• Supervise technicians or researchers who participate in the production process;
• Design and/or operate bioinformatic programs to provide support in gene construction.

Qualifications:
PhD in a relevant field and 2 – 5 years of academic/industrial experience, or a Master’s degree with 5 – 10 years of relevant experience. Comprehensive understanding of recombinant DNA technology, cell culture, and protein design. Previous experience in oligonucleotide synthesis, synthetic biology, and/or the scripting/coding of bioinformatic programs offers a distinct advantage.

Research Associate – Gene Synthesis Specialist
Biosearch Technologies, Inc. helped launch the market for synthetic oligonucleotides, and continues to advance nucleic acid technologies – now in the area of commercial manufacture of synthetic genes. We are seeking a motivated researcher to join our R&D team and contribute to this exciting new field on the vanguard of biotechnology. Position will require the design, testing, and evaluation of new production methods alongside the routine manufacture of large constructs for commercial sale. Excellent writing ability, professional communication, and detailed record keeping are essential. Preferred candidate has previously operated automated instruments in a high-throughput lab, remains efficient under minimal supervision, and is highly effective at collaborating with others.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Fulfill customer purchases while further advancing production methods;
• Practice techniques including PCR, ligation and purification, gel electrophoresis, bacterial transformation, colony selection, and DNA purification and sequencing;
• Operate within our system for quality manufacturing, oligo tracking, and order fulfillment;
• Communicate with customers as well coworkers in other divisions, including Sales and Marketing, Oligo Production, Quality Control;
• Drafting of standard operating procedures and technical support documents;
• Represent Biosearch at scientific symposia and tradeshows (some travel required).

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field, and 1 – 5 years of experience in a laboratory environment that required gene cloning. Well-versed in computers, including the manipulation and presentation of large data sets, familiarity with Microsoft Office, and with common bioinformatics tools such BLAST, multiple sequence alignments, and Genbank. Must have strong communication skills.

Oligonucleotide Production Technician
We are currently seeking a responsible, experienced technician with a strong background in biotech/pharmaceutical manufacturing to join our oligo-manufacturing group. Primary responsibilities will be the manufacturing of custom oligonucleotides . Successful candidate will have experience operating analytical HPLC, preparative HPLC, and mass spec equipment. In addition the ideal candidate will be able to perform a variety of manufacturing roles.

Minimum Requirements:
- Experience with Waters Alliance HPLC systems and Empower preferred.
- Experience with Waters LCT and MassLynx preferred
- B.A. or B.S. in science field
- Must have the ability to work independently as well as on teams
- Technical proficiency that enables effective execution of well defined procedures
- Ability to use the computer effectively in data analysis
- Routine equipment monitoring and maintenance
- The work schedule for this position is swing shift 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm Monday thru Friday
