In an effort to expand the amount of customizable options available to our customers, Biosearch is now offering JOE, ROX, and Texas Red for our dual-labeled probes in addition to our existing dye selection of FAM, HEX, TET, TAMRA, CAL Fluor® Quasar® and Pulsar® dyes.

As the inventor of the Black Hole Quencher® dyes, Biosearch has over 20 years of experience in the custom oligonucleotide manufacturing industry. We continue to lead in the development of new fluorescent dyes and oligo-based tools.

Matt Lyttle
Director of Chemistry

Matt LyttleAfter growing up in rural Marin County, Matt received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of California, Berkeley before joining Biosearch in 1982. As part of a team, Matt has participated in the development of hundreds of products and procedures relevant to DNA, RNA, peptide and dye labeled oligonucleotide synthesis, including co-inventorship on both BHQ® patents, as well as the recently issued CAL Fluor® Dyes patent.

Currently as Director of Chemistry at Biosearch Technologies, Matt participates in a broad spectrum of activities including Research and Development, Process Optimization, Technology Transfer and Safety, and Regulatory Affairs. He also oversees and is responsible for technical issues arising in chemical production, ensuring that customers get the reagents they need in good quality and on time.

At Biosearch, the synergy between R&D, chemical production and custom oligonucleotide synthesis provides a powerful platform for the rapid development and evaluation of new products and procedures. Expensive reagents, such as 6-FAM, are provided to Biosearch’s internal oligonucleotide synthesis group at cost, allowing increased value and quality to be passed on to the customer.
