Can Biosearch probes (and dyes) be used for in-situ hybridization (FISH) studies? |
For RNA FISH assays, Biosearch Technologies offers Stellaris FISH probes. We do not currently support DNA FISH applications. Historically, FISH probes were cDNA labeled enzymatically with multiple fluorophores. A single synthetic oligo labeled with a fluorophore is not sufficiently bright for visualization under a microscope and therefore multiple probes are necessary. With Stellaris FISH Probes, multiple probes hybridize in series along the transcript of interest. Each transcript is resolved as a single diffraction limited spot, producing compelling and intuitive images which clearly illustrate the quantity and location of mRNA in situ.
