Soybean genotyping panel

Soybean genotyping assay library - choose from >1,000 functionally validated KASP SNP assays. Cost-effective, easy to run, no minimum order.

A set of 1082 KASP™ SNP genotyping assays for soybean has been developed for the Generation Challenge Programme and their Integrated Breeding Platform. Through LGC, these assays are now available to the soybean breeding community to accelerate development of improved varieties by marker-assisted selection (MAS).

The soybean genotyping library utilises our accurate and robust PCR-based KASP genotyping chemistry.

Unlike chip-based systems with fixed marker sets, our soybean genotyping library allows you to flexibly pick and choose sets of markers according to changing needs arising in marker-assisted breeding projects. Furthermore, KASP genotyping assays are highly cost-effective, thus providing an economical option to use the same SNP assays throughout the course of a breeding programme.

LGC’s complete genomics solution also encompasses plant sample collection kits, DNA extraction and genotyping services, enabling breeders even in remote locations to apply MAS.

Development of the soybean genotyping library

The Glycine max L. KASP genotyping assays were designed from an original set of 1536 SNP markers, the “Universal Soy Linkage Panel” (USLP 1.0) described in Hyten et al., 2010. These SNP markers had been selected for an even distribution throughout each of the 20 consensus linkage groups, and for optimum allele frequency in diverse germplasm.

Advantages

  • Library includes 1082 functionally validated SNP markers
  • Cost-effective and robust KASP genotyping technology
  • Flexible - pick and choose the markers that are relevant to your project based on genome location
  • Convenient – use informative markers directly on breeding populations or novel cultivars
  • No minimum order – order any number of assays from the library
  • KASP assays are easy to run in your own laboratory or can be used in a genotyping service project

Ordering

The soybean KASP Assays can be provided as part of our genotyping service or as reagents to run KASP genotyping in your own laboratory.

Conclusions: Three functional SNP markers (two for Rhg1 locus and one for Rhg4 locus) were identified that could provide genotype information for the selection of SCN resistance and differentiate Peking from PI 88788 source for most germplasm lines. The robust KASP SNP marker assays were developed. In most contexts, use of one or two of these markers is sufficient for high-throughput marker-assisted selection of plants that will exhibit SCN resistance”
