LGC training at the Plant Breeding Academy

LGC taught 25 breeders about plant sampling & KASP genotyping. Supporting the program via its “Genotyping by post”, which enables plant breeders to send samples for DNA extraction & genotyping.

The second Plant Breeding Academy training session took place in June 2014 over a three day period. LGC were invited to teach 25 breeders about plant sampling and KASP genotyping. LGC is supporting the program via its “Genotyping by post”, which enables plant breeders all over the world to send samples to us for DNA extraction and genotyping, and we send back data. This eliminates the need for a genotyping lab in country and means users can concentrate efforts on using the data.

LGC's Jon Curtis (Scientific Liaison Officer) and Dusty Vyas (Plant Genetics Specialist) went to the academy in June as trainers and kept a blog of their trip to Nairobi and the time spent training and interacting with the students and organisers of this groundbreaking Plant Breeding Academy.
