SNP’s identify mapping data & are a benefit of breeding strategies & global agricultural development. Our SNP assays increase speed of genotyping and are of low cost.
Molecular marker maps, the necessary framework for any MAS programme, have been constructed for the majority of agriculturally important species. SNP’s are now a powerful tool with which the mapping data identified can be used to the benefit of breeding strategies and global agricultural development.
SNPs are a immense source of sequence variation that can be targeted for molecular marker development. Of all the molecular marker technologies available today, SNPs provide the greatest untapped potential for accelerated development. SNPs are often the only option for finding markers associated with a gene of interest, and can even be used to detect a known Quantitative trait loci (QTL’s).
SNP identification using next generation sequencing (NGS) platforms from up to 12 primary cultivars/breeds (Illumina) produces data identifying several hundred to millions of unique SNP’s.
KASP genotyping chemistry
Our Kompetitive Allele Specific PCR genotyping system (KASP™) is a homogeneous, fluorescent, endpoint genotyping technology which offers:
- The simplest, most cost-effective and flexible way to determine both SNP and insertion/deletion genotypes
- Analysis can be carried out in 96-, 384- and 1536-well plate formats
- Minimal sample DNA is required
- Efficiencies are delivered for high-throughput tasks
The benefits of our SNP assays include:
- Increased speed of genotyping
- Lower cost
- Parallel assay of multiple SNP.
The KASP genotyping system has been used successfully in a wide variety of organisms, achieving well over 90% SNP to assay conversion rate.
