The 5-ROXT modification adds a fluorescent carboxy-x-rhodamine (ROX) moiety to the 5’ end of an oligonucleotide. 5' ROX labeled oligonucleotides are used in a wide array of applications, including dual-labeled fluorogenic probes for real-time PCR. This 5' ROX modification is conjugated to a modified thymidine which may participate in hybridization. ROX is a rhodamine dye that fluoresces in the red region of the visible spectrum and can be effectively quenched by BHQ®-2 dye.
