Thio C6 Linker (Thiohexyl); 5' Modification
The 5-Thio C6 modification is used to functionalize the 5' terminus of an oligonucleotide with a thiol group. Thiol modifications have become significant in the production of diagnostic probes. The free thiol can be used as a reactive handle to attach fluorescent dyes, maleimide compounds or for conjugation to proteins through disulfide linkages.
