The 5-HEX modification incorporates a fluorescent 6 - carboxy - 2',4,4',5',7,7' – hexachlorofluorescein (HEX) moiety at the 5' terminus of an oligonucleotide. 5' HEX modified oligonucleotides can be used in a wide array of applications, including dual-labeled fluorogenic probes for real-time PCR. HEX is a xanthene dye and this product is prepared using the 6-carboxy isomer. HEX fluoresces in the yellow region of the visible spectrum and can be effectively quenched by BHQ®-1 dye.
